Lake Quivira Fuel Station

In June of 2021, the city assumed management of the Lake Quivira fuel station. While always city-owned, prior to June of 2021, management was outsourced.  Although managed by a third party, the city was still responsible for all costs related to maintaining the station, excluding the purchase and sale of fuel.  The current Council recognized an opportunity to bring management in-house to generate revenue from fuel sales.  Average daily fuel sales are 500 gallons for unleaded and 175 gallons for premium.

In June of 2022, the city began offering ethanol-free premium gasoline.  Since implementation, premium fuel sales have increased by approximately 20 gallons per day.

The fuel station is open 24/7; however, it is unmanned. If you encounter an issue at the pumps, please report it to City Hall. Only debit/credit cards are accepted, no cash.  Due to increased fuel theft, please be advised that some financial institutions put a cap on fuel sales at $50-$100.  The city has no control over this cap.  If the pump suddenly shuts off at one of the capped amounts, please contact your financial institution.

In June of 2022, with revenue from the sale of fuel, the city contracted with Hunter Pump Islands to upgrade the fuel island from deteriorating concrete to wrapped steel, giving it a much-needed facelift.  The before and after pictures are outlined below:
